3. Do I need council consent to remove a tree on my property?
Most of the time you do not. Councils in New Zealand protect certain trees —large, native, or “notable” ones usually protected trees will have a physical tag. If you’re unsure, we can check to see if there’s any notable or protected trees at your site.
4. How much does it cost to hire an arborist in New Zealand?

5. When is the best time of year to prune trees in NZ?

7. What happens to the wood and branches after tree removal?
We tidy everything up! You can choose to keep the wood for firewood or mulch for the garden, or we can remove it all.
8. How can I tell if my tree is unhealthy or dying?
Look for signs like dead branches, peeling bark, fungus, or thinning leaves. Sometimes trees can look fine on the outside but have internal decay or root decay.
9. Do you offer emergency tree work after storms?
Yes — we’re available for urgent and storm-damage callouts. If a tree has fallen or is leaning dangerously, give us a call right away. We’ll secure the area, make it safe, and remove or prune the tree as needed.

11. Why should I get my tree stumps ground out?
Grinding a stump removes the roots below ground level, so you can replant, lay lawn, or landscape. Old stumps can attract rot and insects, too.
12. How deep do you grind tree stumps?
We usually grind around 200–300 mm below ground level normally enough to remove the entire stump, If you’re planning construction or replanting in the same spot, just let us know — we can go deeper if needed for large stumps.
13. Can a tree stump regrow after grinding?
Sometimes with species like cabbage trees willow or poplar, we remove as much of the root system as possible. But if we think it might have a chance of regrowth we can add poison to the remaining roots to make sure it wont regrow.
14. What are the rules for tree removal near property boundaries in New Zealand?
If branches or roots are crossing a boundary/fence line, you’re generally allowed to trim them back to your side — as long as you don’t harm the tree, it’s best to talk to your neighbour first.
15. Do you offer regular tree maintenance plans?

16. How do I prepare my property for storms or high winds?
Have us check for weak branches or trees leaning toward houses, sheds, or driveways. Preventative pruning reduces the chance of damage when bad weather hits. We can also remove deadwood and ensure your trees are balanced and stable.
